## Zoom Resumes Service After Mid-Afternoon Outage Disrupts Meetings

Zoom users experienced a frustrating Wednesday afternoon as the popular video conferencing platform suffered an hours-long outage. According to Zoom, service has been fully restored.

“Service has now been restored after the earlier outage, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding,” Zoom announced on X (formerly Twitter) at approximately 2:00 PM Pacific time.

The disruption began earlier in the day, around 11:40 AM Pacific, according to data reported by The Verge, which cited Cisco’s ThousandEyes platform. Users flocked to social media to report issues logging in and encountering an “Unable to Connect” error when attempting to join meetings. Even Zoom’s main website and its press inbox went offline during the incident.

The severity of the outage was reflected in reports to DownDetector.com, where over 59,000 users reported problems by midday.

The cause of the outage remains unclear. The Verge speculated that the issue might have been related to DNS problems, referencing a Reddit thread discussing the potential culprit. A Zoom spokesperson, when reached for comment, pointed TechCrunch back to the company’s statement on X.

While the exact reason is still under investigation, users can now breathe a sigh of relief knowing they can once again rely on Zoom for their virtual meetings and collaborations.
