## Threads Gains Momentum, Surpassing 350 Million Monthly Users

Meta’s Threads, positioned as a rival to X, is experiencing significant growth, now boasting over 350 million monthly active users. This milestone was revealed by CEO Mark Zuckerberg during Meta’s Q1 2025 earnings call. The platform added an impressive 30 million users in the last quarter alone, a notable increase from the 20 million added in Q4 2024.

This growth trajectory is particularly noteworthy when compared to other emerging social platforms. In a single quarter, Threads’ user acquisition nearly matched that of Bluesky, a decentralized social app which currently has around 35 million users.

While Threads’ growth is positive, it still lags behind X, which, according to CEO Linda Yaccarino, boasts over 600 million monthly active users. Nevertheless, Threads is carving out its niche within the microblogging landscape.

The success of Threads contributes to Meta’s overall dominance in the social media arena. The company reports that over 3.4 billion people actively use at least one of Meta’s apps daily, encompassing Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp.

Zuckerberg highlighted the growth of Threads as a key indicator that the platform is “on track to become our next major social app.” As Threads continues to evolve and attract new users, it will be interesting to see how it further impacts the competitive dynamics of the social media market.
