## Google Cüzdan, Dijital Kimlik Desteğini Daha Fazla Eyalete Yaygınlaştırıyor

Google, Salı günü yaptığı duyuruyla dijital kimliklerin Google Cüzdan’da daha fazla eyalette ve hizmette kullanıma sunulacağını açıkladı. Şirket ayrıca, Cüzdan’ın yaş doğrulamasını gizli bir şekilde yapmanın bir yolunu bulduğunu ve uygulamanın 50 ülke daha genişleyeceğini belirtti.

## Google Wallet Expands Digital ID Support, Prioritizes Privacy

Google Wallet is set to become even more versatile, with the addition of digital ID support in several more states, the introduction of private age verification, and expansion to 50 new countries, the company announced Tuesday.

Residents of Arkansas, Montana, Puerto Rico, and West Virginia will soon be able to store their U.S. government-issued digital IDs directly in Google Wallet. This move aims to streamline identity verification processes and reduce reliance on physical cards. Furthermore, individuals in Arizona, Georgia, Maryland, and New Mexico will gain the ability to utilize their mobile IDs at DMV locations.

With the REAL ID deadline looming on May 7, 2025, Google is also highlighting the use of ID Passes created from U.S. passports for TSA security checks at participating airports. While this ID Pass can expedite domestic travel even without a REAL ID compliant driver’s license, Google emphasizes that it is not a complete replacement for a physical ID, and users should still carry it.

The enhanced digital ID functionality will also extend to various online services. Users will soon be able to leverage their digital IDs to recover Amazon accounts, access online health services through CVS and MyChart by Epic, and verify profiles on platforms like Uber.

Beyond the U.S., Google is also enabling residents in the U.K. to create and securely store digital ID passes using their U.K. passports within Google Wallet.

A significant aspect of this update is Google’s focus on user privacy. Recognizing the need for age verification across numerous websites and services, Google is integrating zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) technology into Google Wallet. This will enable quick and secure age verification across mobile devices, apps, and websites that utilize Google’s digital credential API, without revealing sensitive personal information.

Google plans to open-source its ZKP technology to encourage adoption by other wallet providers and online services. The company is also partnering with apps like Bumble, which will leverage digital IDs from Google Wallet for identity verification and ZKP for age verification.

While Google confirmed the expansion of Google Wallet to 50 additional countries, specific details regarding the included countries were not disclosed. TechCrunch has reached out to Google for further clarification on this aspect of the expansion.

This update represents a significant step toward a more seamless and secure digital identity experience, prioritizing both convenience and user privacy in the evolving landscape of digital verification.
