For those looking to utilize the new feature, the process is simple. When initiating a livestream, publishers can disable the video feed by clicking the camera icon. The video can be re-enabled at any point during the broadcast, offering dynamic control over the presentation. Crucially, the core engagement features remain intact: listeners can still participate through comments and subscribe to the publisher’s content, mirroring the functionality of a standard video livestream.
The audio-only mode is slated to roll out next week. This update follows Substack’s move in January to extend livestreaming access to all publishers, a feature previously restricted to a select group with over 100 paid subscribers.
