## Reddit Expands Language Support, Now Translating Content into Hindi

In a move aimed at strengthening its presence in the Indian market, Reddit has announced the addition of Hindi to its machine translation feature. This update enables users to automatically translate posts and comments into Hindi, making the platform more accessible to a wider audience within India.

“With this expansion, authentic, more people-powered content is now accessible in one of India’s most spoken languages,” Reddit stated in a recent blog post update. The company also revealed plans to include support for Bengali in the near future, further solidifying its commitment to the Indian subcontinent.

This Hindi translation support marks a significant step in Reddit’s ongoing localization efforts. The platform initially began testing its site-wide machine translation capabilities in May of last year, starting with French. Following successful trials, the feature was officially launched in September across more than 35 countries, with the addition of Spanish and Portuguese language options.

Beyond translation, Reddit is actively investing in AI-powered features to improve user experience. Earlier this month, the platform rolled out its AI-driven search tool, “Answers,” to users in several countries including India, Australia, Canada, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, and the U.K. Previously, this feature was limited to a select group of English-speaking users in the United States.

India remains a key strategic focus for Reddit. The company has been actively expanding its team in India, hiring personnel in vital areas such as community building, growth, legal, and engineering. Current job listings highlight ongoing recruitment efforts for content and community roles, indicating a sustained commitment to fostering a thriving Indian community on the platform. This localized approach, combining language support with AI enhancements and dedicated community building, signals Reddit’s ambition to become a dominant social platform in India.
