## Apple’s App Store Briefly Hosted a $10 Pirated iOS Port of “Blue Prince”
The App Store has once again fallen victim to piracy, this time with an unofficial iOS port of the popular game “Blue Prince” slipping through its review process. The developer, Dogubomb, and publisher, Raw Fury, issued a joint statement alerting users to the existence of these fraudulent apps, emphasizing that the game is currently only available on Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation.
The imposter app, priced at $9.99, was readily discoverable by simply searching for “Blue Prince” on the App Store. The listing boasted an icon and screenshots that mimicked the genuine game, even using the original description from the Steam version. However, closer inspection revealed red flags. The listed seller, “Samet Altinay,” had no apparent connection to “Blue Prince,” and the copyright was attributed to “DogBomb” (notice the missing “u”).
One user, who purchased and tested the now-removed clone on an iPhone 16 Pro, found it to be a barely modified version of the real game, albeit with some mobile-friendly tweaks like a virtual joystick. Unfortunately, the experience was marred by a major bug: the user fell through the floor while trying to enter a doorway. A lone three-star review echoed this experience, citing the same game-breaking bug.
While the pirated version has since been removed from the App Store, the incident raises concerns about Apple’s review process and its ability to prevent fraudulent apps from reaching users. This isn’t the first time copycat games have infiltrated the App Store, with similar incidents involving titles like “Wordle” and “Palworld” occurring in the past.
If you were one of the unlucky individuals who purchased this clone, Apple offers a process for requesting a refund through their website. Meanwhile, Dogubomb and Raw Fury are urging users to avoid purchasing or downloading any apps claiming to be “Blue Prince” on platforms other than Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation until an official announcement is made regarding further platform releases. The developers stated, “We have no news about other platforms at this time, but if that changes we will make an official announcement. While we investigate we would kindly ask that you do not purchase or download these apps.”
