## Nvidia Issues Fifth Hotfix Driver in Months to Combat Persistent RTX 50-Series Bugs
Nvidia has rolled out yet another hotfix driver, version 576.26, primarily aimed at resolving persistent bugs and crashes affecting its RTX 50-series GPUs. This latest release comes on the heels of the 576.02 driver earlier this month, which itself included a substantial number of fixes.
The 576.26 hotfix incorporates all the improvements from the previous 576.15 hotfix, including a fix for the recently discovered GPU temperature bug. It also addresses flickering issues in *Forza Horizon 5*, track corruption in *Forza Motorsport*, and random crashes in *Black Myth: Wukong* specifically on RTX 50-series cards. Furthermore, the update includes fixes for issues experienced in *Red Dead Redemption 2*, *Horizon Forbidden West*, *Dead Island 2*, and the *Resident Evil 4 Remake* when running on the same RTX 50-series GPUs.
Beyond game-specific fixes, Nvidia is also attempting to address ongoing black screen problems plaguing various LG monitors when used in DisplayPort 2.1 mode. The hotfix also targets “grey screen crashes with multiple monitors” and instances of “momentary display flicker” occurring when running in DisplayPort 2.1 mode with a high refresh rate on RTX 50-series cards.
The release marks the fifth hotfix driver issued by Nvidia in recent months, an unusually high frequency that underscores the persistent bugs and crashes reported by users since the RTX 50-series launch in January. This string of hotfixes paints a less-than-ideal picture of Nvidia’s current driver stability.
This situation represents a significant shift from Nvidia’s past pronouncements on driver quality. As recently as April 2022, the company publicly contrasted its approach with that of its competitor, AMD, stating, “We don’t release sub-par beta drivers with minimal testing, let alone multiple conflicting beta drivers forked from different development branches that support different games and products, which confuse customers.” The recent barrage of hotfixes suggests a change in circumstances, as Nvidia struggles to maintain the stability expected by its user base.
