## Google’s NotebookLM Breaks Language Barriers with Expanded AI Podcast Feature

Google’s NotebookLM, the AI-powered note-taking and research assistant, is significantly expanding its accessibility with the addition of 76 new languages to its “Audio Overviews” feature. This update, announced on Tuesday, allows users worldwide to generate AI-driven podcasts based on their uploaded documents in a wider range of languages.

Audio Overviews, initially launched last year, provides a unique way for users to digest information. By leveraging AI virtual hosts, the feature transforms documents like course readings or legal briefs into easily consumable podcasts. This allows for a more engaging and accessible learning experience.

The core benefit of this expansion lies in its ability to cater to a more diverse global audience. Instead of being limited to a single language, users can now choose their preferred “Output Language” for Audio Overviews. This new functionality, according to Google, facilitates the creation of multilingual content and study materials.

Imagine a teacher preparing a lesson on the Amazon rainforest. They can now provide resources in Portuguese, Spanish, and English. Students, in turn, can upload these diverse materials to NotebookLM and generate an Audio Overview summarizing key insights in their native language, fostering a deeper understanding of the subject matter.

The newly supported languages encompass a vast array, including Afrikaans, Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bulgarian, Bengali, Catalan, Czech, Danish, German, Greek, Spanish (both European and Latin American variations), Estonian, Basque, Persian, Finnish, Filipino, French (European and Canadian), Galician, Gujarati, Hindi, Croatian, Haitian Creole, Hungarian, Armenian, Indonesian, Icelandic, Italian, Hebrew, and Japanese.

The list continues with Javanese, Georgian, Kannada, Korean, Konkani, Latin, Lithuanian, Latvian, Maithili, Macedonian, Malayalam, Marathi, Malay, Burmese (Myanmar), Nepali, Dutch, Norwegian (Nynorsk and Bokmål), Oriya, Punjabi, Polish, Pashto, Portuguese (Brazilian and Portuguese), Romanian, Russian, Sindhi, Sinhala, Slovak, Slovenian, Albanian, Serbian (Cyrillic), Swedish, Swahili, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese, and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese.

This extensive language support marks a significant step forward in making AI-powered learning tools more inclusive and accessible to a global community, empowering individuals to learn and comprehend information in the languages they understand best.
