## Amazon Q Business Now Enables Public-Facing AI Chatbots
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is making it easier for businesses to deploy AI-powered chatbots directly on their websites and customer support portals. The company announced on Wednesday that its Q Business AI assistant now supports anonymous user access, allowing companies to build public-facing chatbots powered by Q Business without requiring user authentication.
Q Business, originally launched two years ago at AWS re:Invent, is designed to answer questions, provide summaries, and complete tasks. With this latest update, AWS customers can now leverage Q Business to create chatbots that help customers search documentation, troubleshoot issues, and complete self-service requests, all without needing to log in.
“This capability allows guest users to use Amazon Q Business generative AI capabilities to quickly find product information, get technical answers, navigate documentation, and troubleshoot issues,” Amazon explained in a blog post.
The new feature enables the creation of Amazon Q Business applications with anonymous user mode, meaning content is publicly accessible and user authentication isn’t required. Businesses can configure these chatbots to ingest support documents and other relevant content, ensuring the bots’ responses are grounded in accurate and up-to-date information. Amazon has also stated that pricing for Q Business applications with anonymous access will be based on consumption.
Since its initial launch, Amazon has rebranded Q (formerly known as Amazon Q) and introduced “agentic” features, allowing Q Business to perform tasks on behalf of users across various third-party applications. This latest update further expands the potential use cases for the AI assistant, making it a more versatile tool for customer engagement.
Amazon is betting big on AI, with CEO Andy Jassy recently revealing that the company is developing over 1,000 generative AI applications. He also stated that Amazon’s AI revenue is experiencing “triple-digit” year-over-year growth, representing a “multi-billion-dollar annual revenue run rate,” underscoring the company’s strategic focus on AI as a key driver of future growth.
