## OnePlus Walks Back Watch 3 Price Hike After Brief Inflation

OnePlus has reversed course on a significant price increase for its new Watch 3 smartwatch. Initially announced at $329.99, the watch debuted on April 10th at a surprising $499.99. However, OnePlus spokesperson Spencer Blank has confirmed to *The Verge* that the Watch 3 will now be sold for $349.99.

This revised price is still $20 higher than the original announcement but represents a substantial $150 reduction from the inflated launch price. Blank attributed the initial 52 percent price hike to “current market conditions” on April 10th. However, he now states that “further evaluation” and adjustments to the supply chain have allowed the company to lower the price. Crucially, Blank emphasized that this $349.99 tag is the “final MSRP price and will not be changed going forward.”

OnePlus is also taking steps to rectify the situation for early adopters. According to Blank, OnePlus customer support will contact anyone who purchased the Watch 3 at the higher price and issue a refund for the difference.

The company had previously remained silent regarding the reason for the initial price surge. As *The Verge* reported earlier, tariffs were a likely culprit. At the time of the Watch 3’s debut, tariffs imposed during the Trump administration on goods imported from China had reached 145 percent. Ironically, in the same week, the US excluded smartphones and other electronics from the highest tariffs, although subsequent promises hinted at their possible return in the near future. While OnePlus didn’t directly confirm tariffs as the cause, the timing strongly suggests their influence on the initial pricing strategy.

Ultimately, the reversal is good news for consumers interested in the OnePlus Watch 3, providing a more competitive price point for the new smartwatch.
