## Anker Enters the Thunderbolt 5 Arena with a Powerful, Self-Contained Dock
Anker is making waves in the connectivity space with the release of its first Thunderbolt 5 dock, the Anker Prime TB5 Docking Station. Unlike some competitors that rely on external power bricks, Anker’s dock boasts a built-in GaN power supply, delivering a robust 232W of combined power output within its aluminum alloy housing. This internal power solution eliminates the need for bulky adapters, streamlining your desk setup.
While slightly larger than some alternatives at roughly 5.2 inches wide and 3.4 inches tall, the Anker Prime TB5 Docking Station packs a serious punch in terms of connectivity. Anker has equipped the dock with a total of 14 ports to satisfy diverse peripheral needs. This includes SD and microSD card slots conveniently located on the side, along with two 10Gbps USB-C ports, three 10Gbps USB-A ports, HDMI, DisplayPort, a 2.5Gbps Ethernet port, and a headphone jack.
For high-speed data transfer and demanding applications, the dock features two downstream USB-C Thunderbolt 5 ports, offering blazing-fast 120Gbps speeds with a Bandwidth Boost option. The upstream USB-C Thunderbolt 5 port is equally impressive, capable of delivering up to 140W of power to a connected host computer.
The Anker Prime TB5 Docking Station aims to keep pace with established players like CalDigit. While CalDigit’s TS5 Plus currently leads in sheer port count with 20, Anker’s offering provides a compelling balance of features and power delivery.
The dock supports up to two 8K displays, although Anker notes that resolutions and refresh rates may be limited by the capabilities of the host system. While the company hasn’t confirmed triple-display support, the dock is designed to handle demanding visual setups.
Beyond its core functionality, the Anker Prime TB5 Docking Station includes several thoughtful design elements. Adjustable ambient LED lighting allows users to customize the dock’s appearance to match their gaming setup or personal preference. Furthermore, a U-shaped air duct coupled with an intelligent cooling fan prevents overheating and ensures consistent performance, even under heavy workloads. Anker’s Dock Manager software allows for remote firmware updates, simplifying maintenance in environments with multiple docks.
Available now for $399.99 through Anker’s online store and other retailers, the Anker Prime TB5 Docking Station represents a strong entry into the Thunderbolt 5 market, offering a powerful and feature-rich solution for users seeking to expand their connectivity options.
