## Lyft Launches “Lyft Silver” to Cater to Senior Riders with Simplified App and Accessible Vehicles

Lyft is rolling out a new initiative called “Lyft Silver” designed specifically to make ride-hailing more accessible and user-friendly for older adults. Recognizing that seniors currently represent only a small fraction (5.4%) of their total customer base, Lyft aims to address the unique needs and preferences of this demographic with a dedicated service offering.

According to Lyft, Lyft Silver will include features like vehicles designed for easier entry and exit, and customer service support provided by live, US-based agents.

“Our goal wasn’t just to build a service, but to remove everything that makes getting around a challenge,” said Audrey Liu, Lyft’s head of Rider and Community Safety, in a blog post. “Lyft Silver is about empowering people like my own family to stay connected with their communities, to get out and about with ease and confidence.”

Lyft Silver launched on May 5th in select cities and states including Miami, Tampa Bay, New Jersey, Phoenix, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Washington, DC, and Boston. Users can activate the service by opening the Lyft app, navigating to the “You” section in the bottom right corner, and selecting “Lyft Silver.”

The features of Lyft Silver focus on simplifying the ride-hailing experience. A redesigned app interface offers larger fonts and streamlined navigation. Furthermore, Lyft Silver prioritizes matching riders with vehicles that are easier to get in and out of. Recognizing the importance of safety and connection, the service also allows users to easily share their location with family, friends, or caregivers. Finally, accepting Lyft Cash gifts to help pay for rides has been made easier than before.

For those needing assistance, Lyft Silver provides access to US-based customer support from 8AM to 9PM ET. This personalized support, coupled with the other accessibility features, aims to create a more comfortable and confident ride-hailing experience for senior riders, potentially opening up new avenues for them to stay connected and engaged within their communities.
