## Rad Power Bikes Supercharges its RadRunner Lineup with a Class 3 Upgrade and Smart Features
Rad Power Bikes, despite recent leadership changes, is pushing forward with innovation, unveiling a refreshed RadRunner lineup. The biggest news? The introduction of the RadRunner Max, the company’s first Class 3 e-bike in the RadRunner series. This upgrade brings a new level of performance and technology to Rad Power’s bestselling utility bike.
The RadRunner has become a popular choice for its sturdy frame and fat tires, making it ideal for carrying heavy loads, including child seats. The updated lineup builds on this foundation with enhanced weather protection, increased security features, and cutting-edge technology.
The RadRunner Max is the star of the show. As a Class 3 e-bike, it’s pedal-assist only, reaching a maximum speed of 28 mph. While not Rad Power’s first foray into Class 3 e-bikes (the RadWagon 5, Radster Trail, and Radster Road already offer this capability), it’s a significant addition to the RadRunner family.
Class 3 e-bikes are gaining traction, offering riders the ability to keep pace with urban traffic. However, this increased speed has raised concerns in some regions, blurring the lines between e-bikes and mopeds and leading to stricter regulations in certain areas.
To address these concerns and enhance the riding experience, the RadRunner Max incorporates several innovative features. Torque sensors ensure “instant and intuitive” power delivery, while the “Feather Pedal” feature mimics the smooth acceleration of a car. A digital key provides keyless unlocking, similar to modern car systems. The bike also includes an eight-speed gear shifter and a “RADar” sensor that alerts riders to approaching vehicles via the display. Adding to peace of mind, the RadRunner Max is compatible with Apple’s Find My app, allowing users to track their bike’s location if it’s lost or stolen. A high-capacity battery provides up to 65 miles of riding range.
While the RadRunner Max boasts these premium features, the entry-level RadRunner and RadRunner Plus also receive notable upgrades. All three models feature a 750W motor, hydraulic disc brakes, cadence sensors, and the company’s new fire-resistant SafeShield batteries. The base RadRunner remains a single-speed, while the Plus model includes a seven-speed gear shifter. Payload capacity is increased to 320 pounds, and the range is extended to 55 miles on a single charge, depending on the power setting.
Rad Power is also releasing a Range Extender, a feature promised since the last RadRunner refresh in 2023. This extender will be compatible with the RadRunner Plus, RadRunner Max, and the previous generation RadRunner 3 Plus. With the Range Extender, the RadRunner Plus can achieve up to 125 miles on a single charge, while the RadRunner Max can reach an impressive 150 miles.
The base model RadRunner is priced at $1,499, while the RadRunner Plus costs $1,799. Both are available for purchase starting today, April 30th. The RadRunner Max is available for pre-order at $2,299 and will begin shipping in early May. The Range Extender, priced at $249, is also available for pre-order with shipments expected in early May. For those looking for a bargain, Rad Power Bikes is offering reduced prices on previous generation RadRunner models on their website.
