## Isuzu Enters the Electric Truck Arena with Ranger-Sized D-Max EV
Isuzu has officially entered the electric truck market with the mass production of its all-electric D-Max pickup in Thailand. This move signals a significant shift for the Japanese automaker as it aims to capture a share of the growing EV market in Europe. The D-Max EV, a mid-sized pickup with a dual-motor, four-wheel-drive system, promises to deliver performance comparable to its diesel counterpart, according to Isuzu.
The D-Max EV boasts a 140kW power output and, impressively, matches the towing capacity of the diesel D-Max, rated at 7,716 pounds (3,500kg). Payload capacity is slightly reduced to around 2,226 pounds (1,010kg) compared to the diesel’s 1,200kg, likely due to the weight of the 66.9kWh battery pack. This battery provides a range of up to 163 miles (263km) on a full charge based on Europe’s WLTP standard. Interestingly, the range extends to 224 miles in city driving mode.
Visually, the D-Max EV closely resembles its diesel-powered sibling. Measuring approximately 207 inches in length, it is a direct competitor to Europe’s best-selling pickup, the Ford Ranger (210 inches). Isuzu’s electric truck is poised to challenge the Ranger when it arrives in left-hand drive European countries in the third quarter of this year. A right-hand drive version is slated for the UK market in February 2026.
While Isuzu has not yet disclosed the pricing for the electric D-Max, the diesel model currently retails for around $41,600. The automaker has expressed plans to expand the D-Max EV’s availability to other countries based on market demand. However, whether the US market will be included remains uncertain. The arrival of the D-Max EV marks an exciting development in the electric truck segment, providing European consumers with a new and compelling option.
